A HEREFORD man found hanged outside his holiday home was suffering from severe depression, an inquest has heard.

Robert David Rowan was found unresponsive by a neighbour outside the holiday home he shared with his wife at Pixley End Country Park in Trumpet on the morning of November 6 last year.

An inquest held this week in Hereford heard that the 59-year-old had a history of severe depression and had attempted to commit suicide some 20 years previously.

The inquest was also told that Mr Rowan, who was from Marlbrook Road in Redhill, suffered a decline in his mental health in October last year.

He had been prescribed anti-depressants and was told to see the CRISIS Team at Hereford's Stonebow Unit after seeking medical advice from his doctor.

County Coroner Mark Bricknell ruled out any third party involvement in the death and recorded a verdict of suicide at Monday's hearing.
