HEREFORD'S Steampunk Festival is set to bring another celebration of fantasy Victoriana to Hereford this year.

In addition to the annual riot of colours, sounds, marvellous machines and fantastical costumes, this year's steampunk spectacular, held at Hereford's Waterworks Museum on April 27 and 28, will feature one of the country's most renowned children's entertainers, David Alexander and his Travelling Show.

Festival organiser David Smith said: "Mr Alexander’s unique trailer stage creates the vintage atmosphere that perfectly complements his show and allows everyone a great view.

"His shows include magic, music, juggling, unicycling, balance and illusion and, on occasions, a spectacular fire routine. Each show is closely choreographed to vintage jazz, transporting the audience back in time to the days of Vaudeville and Music Hall.

"Many of his routines have developed from live improvisation and eventually, once they have earned a place in the show proper, they become classics of skilled performance, enjoyed and admired by adults and children alike."

Previous festival favourites Ichabod Steam and his Animatronic Band, escapologist and juggler Greg Chapman, Captain Leaky and his amazing Steampunk Camper Van will also be hitting the stage.

And the line-up is joined this year by new act, steampunk rock duo Kiss Like Ether.

The festival will also be staging a Saturday night cabaret show in Hereford's Shire Hall.

Headlined by The Captain of the Lost Waves, the cabaret will feature the glamour of burlesque performer Lux DeLioux in addition to the festival's daytime performers.

Tickets for the cabaret, which will begin at 7.30pm on April 27 are priced at £16. For more information and tickets, visit http://www.david-smith-events.co.uk/
