DOLAU WI started the year with a talk entitled Barrow Boy to Farmer by John Kirk from Builth.

He told members his family history in London as street sellers, through to his move to Wales, buying a farm at Sennybridge, and finally moving to Builth.

He is well known for breeding Welsh cobs, and has had many winners at the RWAS and is presently chairman of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society.

Later in the meeting, Julie won the competition for the most useful garden tool.

In February a talk form Bob Gardner from Llandewi entitled Clouds informed members about the different sorts of clouds and what they showed regarding weather.

Plans were started for the County Show in May and meetings will be ongoing on this to try to do as well as last year.

The first trophy of the year was won by Julie Hardwick and Debra Coombs as they lifted the WI darts shield.

The meeting on March 6 at 7.30pm in Dolau Community Hall is a talk from Llandrindod lady town crier, Jan Swindale.

Visitors and new members are always welcome to the meetings.
