IT is that time of year when we all commit to getting fitter, losing a bit of weight and perhaps making new friends.
Leominster Badminton Club gives you the opportunity to do all three and have fun whilst doing it.
The club is held from 7.30pm to 9.30pm on Thursdays at Leominster Leisure Center; it is open to people of all abilities and has a strong social element.
The club generally play doubles and have a system to ensure you get to play with and meet everyone in the club.
The first session is free for new attendees, so you can go and try it out and see if you like it.
‘A couple of years ago I was looking for a way to get fit, have some fun and increase my social network. I had never played Badminton before, but a friend persuaded me to go to the Leominster Club and give it a go. To be honest I have not looked back, I have met some great friends and am definitely fitter. I look forward to Thursday nights’ commented Euan McPherson, club member and chief executive of local charity, Services for Independent Living.
‘I honestly can’t recommend it enough; it is great fun, with a great bunch of people and very good aerobic exercise’.
All abilities are welcomed and any age from 11 upwards, just go along to Leominster Leisure Center on Coningsby Road any Thursday at 7.30pm with non-marking trainers; they may even be able to lend you a racket to see if you enjoy it.
