A HEREFORDSHIRE garden is in line for a prestigious award.
Moors Meadow Gardens, near Bromyard, have been nominated for a ‘Rural Oscar’ from the Countryside Alliance Awards 2019.
The awards' aim is to celebrate rural businesses which make a valuable contribution to their local community.
Moors Meadow has opened its gates since 2002 and welcomes local and international visitors including groups from as far afield as Japan and USA.
Set on a hillside overlooking the beautiful Kyre Valley, the seven-acre garden has been developed and worked by the same family since the 1950s.
Owner, head gardener and plantaholic Ros Bissell's ethos is to work with nature to protect plants and encourage wildlife.
The plants are many and varied while the wildlife features more than 70 species of birds and myriad insects.
Moors Meadow is open by appointment throughout the year to individuals and groups. Future aims are to continue to welcome visitors along with raising funds for worthy local charities which Ros has done for many years, as well as regular NGS days.
