WHILST many classic cars spend their winters tucked away in garages, our Camera Club picture of the day from Martin Prior shows his 1933 Austin Seven proving more than a match for some of this year's most difficult weather conditions.

The 86-year-old Herefordshire registered car remains in daily use throughout the year and was not to be defeated by the arrival of the Beast from the East.

A year of extremes, 2018 saw England's hottest summer on record following on the heels of the heavy snowfalls of February and March, which brought large parts of the country to a standstill with schools closed, roads rendered impassable and supermarket shelves bare.

In Herefordshire, vital services were assisted in remaining operational with the help of volunteers including the Herefordshire 4x4 Response Group, who provided transport for emergency service workers and urgent medical supplies.
