Half A String theatre company present A Heart at Sea at The Courtyard in November for all the family to enjoy.
Half A String was born through the collaboration between visual artist Peter Morton and musician Avi Simmons and grew from a love for storytelling, live music and puppetry.
A Heart at Sea is a piece of storytelling gig-theatre for children. Original songs written and performed by Avi Simmons, and live looped soundscapes, tell the story of a boy who bottles up his heart and throws it into the sea. Intricate puppets are swept through transforming wooden worlds that are held within a beautifully carved chest. Puppets roam on this unique contraption to recount the story of whales, tiny boats, and beards. Join our hero as he embarks on a wild, nautical journey to recover his missing heart. This is a piece of heart-warming storytelling to resonate with all ages, and is recommended for ages 7+
As part of The Courtyard’s Family Saturdays programme, there will be a free pre-show activity available for children to take part in where they will have the opportunity to create their very own puppet from 10.30am.
A Heart At Sea will be in The Courtyard’s Studio Theatre on Saturday, November 24 at 11am. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk
