JESSE Norman MP has been promoted in government.
The MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire has been promoted to the Minister of State at the Department of Transport.
His promotion from Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department follows the departure of Jo Johnson, who resigned from the Cabinet last week in protest at Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit plan.
The final details of the portfolio are yet to be confirmed, but it is thought it will remain largely the same with a few additions.
Jesse Norman said: “I am delighted to have been asked by the Prime Minister to take on more responsibilities within the Department. I have hugely enjoyed my time there over the last eighteen months and am excited to continue.
“The Government has made huge progress investing in road infrastructure already, as well as new cycleways across the country and local plans to tackle air pollution.
“Ministers are very properly under a duty to be completely impartial in their actions, and I will continue to be.
“But I will also be working very vigorously to make sure that rural voices, such as those of my constituents in Herefordshire, are heard.”
