A WORLD-renowned historical gunsmith raised more than £10,000 for a charity which helps former members of the Armed Forces.
John Slough, from Allensmore, raised the money with his wife, Margaret, for Combat Stress.
Last November 10, they took 16 guns to the Passchendaele battle site in Belgium and fired 100 blank rounds - one for every year that has passed since the battle ended in 1917.
As well as commemorating those who fell in the battle, they also raised £10,100 for Combat Stress which offers therapeutic and clinical community and residential treatment to former members of the British Armed Forces who are suffering from a range of mental health conditions.
Last Saturday at Suvla Barracks in Harold Street, Hereford Mr Slough presented the cheque to Robert Marsh, director of Combat Stress.
He also took one of the 16 guns to the barracks, as shown in the picture.
Mr Slough is a master gunmaker who has a workshop based in Peterchurch. He runs John Slough of London and specialises in re-conditioning old British Empire artillery pieces.
