BEN Rutherford, aged 14, recently flew solo at Shobdon Airfield following completion of a training course at the Herefordshire Gliding Club (HGC).
Ben is the youngest member of the HGC to have been sent solo with the club, since it was formed at Shobdon in the early 1970s.
Ben undertook a short local flight, followed by a smooth landing back at Shobdon.
Full of smiles, Ben was congratulated by club members after his landing and is now looking forward to furthering his training and expanding his experience with the club.
HGC offer trial flights for anyone interested in wanting to experience flight in a glider and training for those who wish to take up the sport.
HGC are an active and friendly club operating at weekends and occasionally during the week at Shobdon, throughout the year.
