THE people of Ross-on-Wye want a vote on the final Brexit deal, a campaign group has claimed.

Members of the Herefordshire For EU Group held a listening stall at the Ross-on-Wye market on Saturday, August 25.

The group held a petition asking for the views of shoppers on a 'People's Vote' for the government's Brexit deal to be put to a public vote.

70 people signed the petition during the four hours of the stall.

Organisers claimed victory for the 'People's Vote', with the majority of respondents answering 'yes' to the question 'do you want a say on the final deal?'

One Ross resident said: “Brexit has divided families, communities and the country. It’s not easy to speak your mind publicly these days. I’m so glad to see someone taking a stand and saying ‘No’ to Brexit."

In the 2016 referendum, 59.2% of voters in Herefordshire opted for the UK to leave the European Union.
