AN autumnal treat is in store for those wanting to taste some of the best countryside Herefordshire has to offer.

Moccas Park National Nature Reserve is a hidden haven of beautifully managed woodland in the heart of rural Herefordshire.

On Sunday, September 16 there's a rare chance to visit as the park is opened to the public as part of the St Michael's Hospice Open Gardens programme.

Moccas Park's biggest selling point is arguably its trees, notably a wide variety of veteran oaks, many dating back more than 800 years.

On the day, visitors will be able to take part in a guided walk (which must be pre-booked) around the park where you will learn more about the history of the site and how the outstanding array of trees supports such a vast range of wildlife including dragonfly and damselfly, a plethora of ducks and geese, and around 200 wild fallow deer.
