ALL-ROUNDER Daryl Mitchell returned to the Brockhampton team and gave them a lift in their Birmingham & District Division One relegation battle.
The Worcestershire County opener hit a century with the bat before taking the final wicket as his side ran out 44 run victors over Tamworth.
“It was a good all-around performance and keeps us up with the others," said Mitchell.
“I have only managed to play six matches this season and one of those was rained off so we have won three of those five games.
“I enjoy playing for Brockhampton and it’s a lovely little ground to play at. I owed the team a few runs and it was nice to get the win.”
After electing to bat Mitchell’s stand of 104 from 101 was helped by Tom Cummins (73) as the pairing saw Brockhampton reach a commanding 201-3.
Joe Crichard also contributed with an unbeaten 40 as they batted out their innings on 275-6 off their 50 overs.
Brockhampton bowlers Freddie Cross (3-62) and Henry Langford (3-48) made steady inroads into the Tamworth attack with the hosts eventually bowled out for 231.
The win leaves Brockhampton just 17 points below third bottom Leamington.
Mitchell hopes to contribute towards the survival fight but much depends on how Worcestershire fair in the T20 competition as to his availability.
