THE fast action of firefighters stopped a fire spreading to neighbouring fields in Staunton-on-Arrow.
Fire crews from Kington and Kingsland were called at 5.40pm on Saturday to a bailer on fire in the village to the west of Leominster.
A round bailer and approximately 100sqm of stubble was well alight on arrival.
Four hose reel jets and four beaters were used to extinguish the fire. A thermal image camera was used to check the surrounding area.
It wasn't the only agricultural machinery fire during the weekend. On Sunday at 11.39am fire crews from Eardisley and Hereford were called to a fire involving a combine harvester in Staunton-on-Wye.
And later the same day at 1.53pm firefighters from Peterchurch and Hereford were called to the B438 in Vowchurch to a fire involving an engine bay and the threshing mechanism of a combine harvester.
