A LEOMINSTER couple is celebrating 50 years of marriage today.

Dave and Jan Jenkins tied the knot on July 27 at the Priory Church in Leominster in 1968.

Reminiscing about the day, Dave, 75, said: "The sun shone, it was lovely. It was a beautiful day."

The couple have always lived in Leominster and are active members in the community.

Jan, who is about to turn 70, has volunteered at Leominster Shopmobility for the past 18 years.

Through her voluntary work she has offered support to people who need mobility assistance such as wheelchairs and walking aids.

Jan said: ""I have met some lovely people over the years."

The couple, who have a daughter called Heather, have worked in factories and shops during their married life.

Looking back on 50 years of marriage, Jan has advice for those embarking on wedded life.

She joked: "Have a good scrap every day and make up for it."

She added: "We make up and I get my own way!"
