Pianist Maria Marchant, acknowledged by BBC Music Magazine as a ‘rising star’, will play a mixed and varied programme of piano music at the Lion Ballroom in Leominster on Sunday, April 22 at 3pm. It will include Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight’ Sonata, Brahms’ Intermezzo Op 117 No 1, Liszt’s 2nd Ballade in B minor and works by Handel, Clara Schumann, Ireland and Roderick Williams. Her recent SOMM Recording entitled Echoes of Land and Sea, on which she plays pieces by Ireland and Roderick Williams to be heard in this concert, has received extremely enthusiastic reviews from critics, including Musicweb International, The Guardian and BBC Music Magazine ‘…. delivered by Marchant with a richness of musicianship that haunts the memory.’ BBC Music Magazine.
