BYFORD Church fundraisers joined together recently to create a wonderful afternoon of vintage cream teas and other entertainments to raise funds not only for their church but also for the Macmillan Renton Unit, where several people in the village, as well as in surrounding parishes have been and are currently being treated. The event was a huge success, raising almost £1,800 which will be divided equally between the two causes.
Live music was provided by the Hereford Big Band, contributing greatly to the wonderful atmosphere of the whole afternoon.
The cream teas, created and served by local culinary experts, Lynn Compton and Caroline Warren, were greatly enjoyed. As were the other additional forms of entertainment, including a woodland walk with a Peter Rabbit trail, traditional family games, donkey and pony rides, the inevitable raffle, cake and plant stalls and a very well attended Prosecco bar!
The event took place in the lovely gardens of the home of Major General and Mrs Arthur Denaro at Byford Common, with the teas being housed within three most beautiful Bedouin tents.
A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was enjoyed by all.
