POLICE are investigating a robbery where a passenger stole money from a bus driver in Hereford.
The incident happened on the number 74 First Midland Red bus at around 10.30pm on Tuesday, July 3. The offender, who was the only passenger, was picked up at Credenhill's Waterside and elected to get off at Whitecross Road, opposite White Horse Street.
As he reached the doors, the youth aged around 17 years-old asked the driver for change of a £20 note. The driver stated he had no change and the youth said he must have dropped a £20 note at his seat. He turned to walk back up the bus and when the driver turned away, the youth elbowed him in the shoulder and grabbed around £7 from the cash box. He left the bus and ran off up Whitecross Road away from the city centre.
Police want to speak to anyone who saw a youth running along Whitecross Road at that time. They should contact PC Alan Tobey on 08457 444888 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
