PUPILS at a village school have got some new play equipment thanks to an entrepreneurial initiative.

The School Council at Pembridge CE Primary School, devised an ‘Enterprise Competition’ to raise money for much needed playtime equipment.

Over the years equipment had become broken or lost and the children found themselves bored so felt they needed to do something to change this.

Every child in school was given an original investment of £1 from the school council. In total the pupils raised £938 by starting up a variety of businesses which ranged from lawn-mowing to selling cakes and bags of fire wood.

The school arranged a school shopping event where items were sold and the children also sold their goods directly.

The two children who raised the most amount of money were: Tilly, who raised £59 washing car wheels, and Zebedee, who raised £54 selling handmade stress balls.

Freddie and Dylan, chairs of the school council said: “We are overwhelmed by the total we have raised and everybody is thoroughly enjoying using all the new equipment”.
