A SHOBDON teenager who is representing Herefordshire in the Miss Junior Teen Great Britain competition will prove she has a head for heights when she completes a charity abseil next month.

Erin White, 15, is the current Miss Junior Teen Herefordshire and will be attending the final of the competition in Blackpool in October.

As part of her journey to bring the national title home, Erin is working hard to raise money for children's hospice charity Together for Short Lives.

On September 18 she will be abseiling down the 175ft tall bell tower at The Trafford Centre in Manchester in a bid to reach her fundraising target before the final.

She said: "Taking part in this challenge will be one of the hardest things I have done so far but to raise money for this amazing charity will be worth it."

Erin, who is in year 11 at Wigmore High School, has been raising money throughout the year through cake sales, raffles.

She also held a charity stall at the recent Shobdon Food and Flying Festival and took part in the Leominster Festival Family Fun Day, providing lucky dips and games for the children.

Most recently, she gave up a week of her school summer holiday to volunteer at The Priory Church children's activity club.

Finalists in the competition, which reaches its climax on Sunday, October 23, are judged on an interview, their personality, stage presentation, fundraising and community work.

Anyone who can help Erin reach her fundraising target and raise funds for the charity can visit justgiving.com/erin-white1

One person will be chosen at random after donating to the justgiving page to receive a ball signed by Hereford FC players.
