A MAN has appeared in court charged with causing the death of a Herefordshire man on the A49 last year.
Ian Wemyss - known as 'Devvo' to friends - died when his white Ford Fiesta was involved in a crash with another car near the Pilgrim Hotel in Much Birch on November 6.
The popular 24-year-old, who lived near Ross-on-Wye in Phocle Green, was taken to hospital in Birmingham with serious injuries, but died three days later.
Shahram Ali, from St Mark Street in Gloucester, appeared before magistrates in Hereford last Thursday having been charged with causing Mr Wemyss' death by dangerous driving.
No plea was entered by the 36-year-old who was given unconditional bail to appear at Worcester Crown Court on April 20.
Just days after Mr Wemyss' death, a convoy of more than 100 cars travelled from Ross to Hereford in his memory.
