THE Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for Herefordshire residents as heavy rain is set to continue over the Welsh mountains.
Environment Agency staff said two bands of heavy rain will raise river levels, particularly on the Wye over the coming days and into next week.
They said a prolonged spell of heavy rain over the Welsh mountains is expected to last until tomorrow, with further bands of rain expected from Thursday onwards.
This is likely to lead to the issuing of flood alerts and warnings, they said.
Agency staff are closely monitoring and reviewing the need for barriers along the Wye on a daily basis and are clearing blockages from rivers.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to prepare by signing up to flood warnings on the Environment Agency website. People can also call floodline on 0345 988 1188.
