A BAND led by a former Hereford College of Arts student is tied with Adele for the most nominations at the 2016 Brit Awards.

Years and Years are headed up by Olly Alexander, who left the Folly Lane campus in 2008, and are up for British group, breakthrough act, best single and best video.

Brought up in Coleford in the Forest of Dean, Alexander came to Hereford to study Performing Arts before travelling to Tokyo after landing his big break in a Gaspar Noé film ‘Enter the Void’, filming alongside Alex Pettyfer and the Skins cast.

Years & Years were formed in 2010 when Alexander became lead singer after he was overheard singing in a shower at a house party.

Success soon followed for the electronica-inspired group who went on to support the likes of Sam Smith and Clean Bandit as well as performing with Jools Holland.

Years and Years - as well as many interested Hereford parties - will find out if they have won a Brit at the awards ceremony at London’s O2 on February 25.
