THE programme for this year's Hay Festival has been finalised and, as always, promises a wide-ranging selection of events, ranging from politics to poetry and fishing to foreign aid, cricket to crime-writing and Nobel Laureates to the News Quiz... and Bob Geldof in concert.

The 20th festival opens with an informal five-event conference to exchange ideas about environmental best-practice in the creative industries and from Thursday, May 24, to Sunday, June 3, the purpose-built Festival site will host more than 600 events.

This year's programme is packed with an awesome line-up of familiar names - Gordon Brown, John Major, Ruth Rendell, Sebastian Faulks, Harry Hill, Nobel Laureates Derek Walcott, Wole Soyinka and Orhan Pamuk, children's authors Anthony Horowitz, Cathy Cassidy and Louise Rennison to name just a small selection ... visit the website to browse the complete programme: www.hayfestival.com and to book tickets online.
