LOUISE Skelton from Eardisley won the Laurence Rook Trophy at the Badminton Horse Trials for being the highest-placed British rider who has not previously completed the event.

The 31-year-old horsewoman was competing at Badminton for the first time and finished 23rd on Partly Pickled who was bred by her mother Jackie.

Louise won the Blair Castle Horse Trials in 2005 and finished 23rd at last year's Burghley Horse Trials on Bit Of A Barney.

Badminton was won by Wiltshire based Lucinda Fredericks and Headley Britannia who also won Burghley last year.
