AN organisation which offers social and horticultural therapy to vulnerable and disabled people has a new tool to reflect on its gardening work.

Hereford Round Table chairman, Will Jackson, presented a new bench to the chairman of Herefordshire Growing Point, Laura Hone, this week to enable the group's users to enjoy their demonstration garden.

Based at the Holme Lacy Campus in Hereford, Herefordshire Growing Point was founded more than 23 years ago and now has more than 250 gardeners who take part in sessions once a month either at the demonstration garden or at day centres and care homes around the county.

Ms Hone said: "We are so grateful to the Round Table members for their donation and that to have such a long-lasting and sturdy bench is very much appreciated by all users of the Demonstration Garden."

Specially adapted tools and gardening techniques are used and the sessions are led by tutors.

Since the Round Table joined up with the Hereford Times earlier this year, the organisation has given away more than £30,000 to local charities and good causes.
