Store cattle - 291: Strong stores of good conformation topped the sale with a home bred British Blue cross, 18 months to £1340. Other strong steers from £1075 to £1265. Most cattle were in good condition with best shaped from 220p to 258p/kg. Younger steers all sold well with 8/12 months from £670 to £1090. A bunch of good shaped 15/18 month pure Hereford steers attracted good bidding selling at £1075, other native bred from £705 to £1060.
Heifers topped at £1162 for 22 month Simmental cross, other stronger sorts from £965 to £1090. Younger sorts, 7/13 months from £605 to £970. Farm assured British Blue cross heifers, 16/20 months all in good demand regularly from £950 to £1070. Native bred heifers from £545 to £935 with a total clearance effected.
The small entry of seven beef type cows/heifers with their early summer calves were mostly 8/12 year old cows and sold from £1040 to £1440.
The Angus cross heifer with her three month heifer calf sold at £1280. Nine barren cows and over 30 month types sold to £1000 for a 42 month Charolais heifer with stronger cows from £655 to £935, to average 127.1p/kg.
