TEME Spirits put on a cabaret performance entitled ‘When the lights go on again’ in celebration of VE Day, in Knighton community centre recently. Nine veterans of the Second World War were invited to the event. They were Archie Bell, Lillian Bright, Arnold Cottle, Trevor Johnson, Iris Leeson, John Morgan, Winifred Plant, Margaret Pinfield and Ted Steele. The veterans were joined by a large audience.
During the performance there was a chance to join in with wartime songs and watch the many short sketches showing how people of all walks of life carried on after the war was over and the lights were turned on again. Newly elected MP for Brecon and Radnorshire Chris Davies was also at the event and got to join in when he danced with Teme Spirits member Helen Wyles. A raffle took place at the end this was organised by members of Knighton and District Twinning Association.
