ROSS Rotarians Polly Gabriel and Alan Godwin took part in Walford Scouts' funding raising abseil down Symonds Yat Rock on May 29. Although it was a very wet and blustery day, much to the relief of the participants, the rain relented and the abseils down the rock went very smoothly. In fact the climb or clamber back up the rock proved to be be more difficult than the abseil down. Through the generosity of family, friends and colleagues, Polly and Alan each raised £250 in sponsorship which, together with a further donation of £250 from Ross Rotary's charity fund, boosted the Ross - Kandersteg Switzerland Scout Camp Fund by £750.
During her decent, Polly paused for a photo opportunity and, on behalf of Ross Rotary Club, presented a cheque for this magnificent amount to Mike Mitchell, Scout Leader of Walford Scouts.
Ross Rotary meets every Monday evening 6.30pm for 7pm at the Chase Hotel. Guests and potential members are very welcome. Please visit our website at www.rossrotary.com.
