The Bargain Robert Maxwell was known as Cap'n Bob' and the bouncing Czech'. She was known as The Angel of Mercy' and Saint of the Gutter'. Theirs would not appear to be a likely union but in April 1988, three years before his body was found floating in the Atlantic, Robert Maxwell sealed a deal with Mother Teresa of Calcutta. The Bargain is based on an astonishing 36 hour encounter that took place in London. The outsized Robert Maxwell was a newspaper tycoon, football fan and big spender. Diminutive Mother Teresa was a living saint, comforter of the poor, missionary and nun. Remarkably, they found they had much in common.
Entry details in this week's Hereford Times. Closing date for entries is Friday 23rd March.
