KINGTON residents have a new state-of-the-art media studio on their doorstep, thanks to funding from a National Lottery scheme.

Housed at the Kington Resource Centre, on Market Hall Street, the facility has been funded by an Awards for All grant and will offer high quality professional equipment and training in digital photography and computer-based animation.

The studio support will be led by fully trained staff and professional practitioners, who plan to deliver a series of in-depth training programmes to the public following its official opening next month.

The courses are open to all ages and standards, with the aim being to hone creative and technical skills.

Topics include video editing, hands-on video camera tuition and digital photography manipulation classes.

The grant has allowed the resource centre to buy three Apple computers, audio recording equipment and multiple copies of video and photo editing software.

Volunteers are currently being recruited to help run the centre and its training programmes. Full training is available from experienced tutors in the operation of all equipment and software.
