A CONGREGATION of almost 150 turned out for the Chairman of Herefordshire Council's annual Civic Service.
Councillor John Edwards was delighted at the response which resulted in a packed Bridstow Church in Ross.
"It was a great success and I am very grateful for the support I received," said Coun Edwards.
"Everyone I have spoken to said they enjoyed the service, which is thanks in no small part to my secretary, Jean Wood, who did a tremendous job in arranging the afternoon."
Led by the Dean of Hereford, the Rt Rev Michael Tavinor, the service was attended by Hereford's Mayor, Coun Robert Preece, and many other dignitaries.
Coun Edwards also addressed the congregation, before they were treated to the music of the church's bell-ringers, who gave their services free of charge.
Proceeds from the event will be shared between Bridstow and How Caple Churches and St Michael's Hospice.
