HEREFORDSHIRE is one of the most tranquil places to live in the country, according to the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE).
According to experts who used a series of measures, Herefordshire came out 11th in the league table of the most peaceful places to make a home.
Experts from Northumbria and Newcastle Universities carried out the survey for the CPRE and Herefordshire came second in the regional rankings behind Shropshire.
The county finished well ahead of other West Midlands counties, including neighbouring Worcestershire, which came 33rd.
The survey showed Northumbria to be the most tranquil place to live in the UK, with Slough the worst.
