BRITISH troops in war zones over the world will soon be even fitter thanks to a Hereford sports psychologist.
Dr Mark Bellamy and Performance Technology Ltd have manufactured the Powerbag, which is already used by international sportsmen, including the England rugby team.
It will now be shipped out to Iraq and Afghanistan in a bid to bolster the troops' already supreme fitness levels.
The vinyl-covered sand-filled bags are compact, hardwearing and available in weights ranging from 3kg to 50kg.
Dr Bellamy, from Kings Acre, said: "The bags are practical, safe, easy to transport and totally applicable to training for the physical rigours of modern military life."
Providing a crossover between lifting, ball work and stability training, the bags are also a popular tool in PE classes around the country and among first time exercisers and older users.
