STAFF are celebrating at the Old Railway Line Garden Centre after attending the prestigious Garden Retail Awards in London recently, where they picked up their third award in as many weeks.

Four of the Old Railway Line team attended the annual Garden Retail Awards where they collected a trophy for Best Garden Centre Event for their popular Wild Wednesdays as well as being shortlisted for Retail Outlet of the Year and Best Planteria.

A successful evening at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London added to the Garden Retailer of the Year award won at the DIY Week Awards in Coventry the previous week and The Sun Newspaper's Plant Retailer of the Year for the Wales and the west region announced the week before.

Katie Eckley, shop manager at the garden centre, located at Three Cocks between Brecon and Hay-on-Wye, said "The Garden Retail Awards are very prestigious in the horticultural industry and recognise dedication to excellence so we are thrilled to have picked up an award from there for the first time. Over the past year or two we have put a lot of effort into adding new, exciting events to our calendar and to receive recognition like this is fantastic. Our Wild Wednesday event series offers a different workshop every Wednesday during Powys school holidays for children which have been a great success.

"We are also very pleased to retain the awards from DIY Week and The Sun which we also won in 2014. We are always looking to maintain and improve upon the high standards we set ourselves to offer our customers the best shopping experience possible when they visit. I'd like to thank all of the staff at the garden centre for their hard work and efforts during the past year."

The award-winning, independent, family-run garden centre was established in 1990 by owners, Mark and Christina Cleary. It provides customers with quality plants, gardening products, indoor and outdoor living goods, pet care products, giftware and furniture. The Old Railway Line is also home to a farm shop stocking products from over 50 local and Welsh suppliers and a 150 seater restaurant offering delicious home cooked food.
