COINCIDING with the centenary of Dylan Thomas's birth on October 27, 1914, a programme on Sunday afternoon by poet Edward Storey and Revd. Preb Stephen Hollinghurst celebrates the tragically short life of the poet, more than the man.
The programme will share Thomas's humorous memories of childhood and the religious questioning in his later poems. He was not only a brilliant comic writer but also a visionary poet whose talent has been over-shadowed by his reputation as a drunken philanderer. This programme aims to restore a true picture of the Welsh poet's reputation whose genius will survive the scandals.
A Poet in October is at St Michael's Church, Discoed on Sunday afternoon at 3.30pm. Tickets available on the door. Proceeds to the St Andrew’s Church Development Appeal.
