THE tale of the captivating Carmen is brought to The Courtyard next week by Mid Wales Opera.
Bizet’s masterpiece tells how Carmen seduces the naive Don José and whisks him off on a journey of love, loss, betrayal and jealousy, ending in tragedy when, in a passionate rage, Don José kills Carmen in one of the most dramatic moments in stage history.
This intense and intimate production is performed in English with a translation by Rory Bremner, and features the classic Habanera and The Toreador Song in a new orchestration of Bizet’s legendary score by world-renowned opera and music theatre composer Stephen McNeff, commissioned especially for the Mid Wales Opera Chamber Orchestra.
Carmen is presented in conjunction with the Courtyard Card for 14-25 year olds, which is free to join and offers a range of benefits including discounted tickets and food and drink in the Cafe Bar.
Carmen will be at The Courtyard on Friday, October 17 at 7.30pm. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk
