BRITISH music will be featuring in The Britten Singers' next concert on Friday, May 16 in All Saints Church.
Starting with 16th century madrigals the Britten SIngers, directed by Pamela White, will also be performing music by 19th century composers including Sullivan, Parry and Stanford. The centrepiece of the concert will be a a complete performance of the Seven Songs to words by Robert Bridges by Gerald Finzi. These beautiful settings are seldom performed as a complete set and they are certainly challenging though musically rewarding both for performers and listeners. The programme is completed by a selection of arrangements of British folk songs, and an appearance by clarinet quartet, A Touch of Wind, directed by Becky Griffiths.
Admission to the concert is free, but a retiring collection will be taken in aid of Hereford Breast Cancer Haven.
