BIG Dance is the UK’s biggest celebration of all types of dance, for all ages and all levels of ability, and Dancefest, the dance development organisation for Herefordshire and Worcestershire. is delighted to be the lead organisation for Big Dance in the West Midlands this year.

Dancefest is currently working with lots of its groups to create dance to be performed on Friday, May 16, when people throughout the world will be taking part in this year’s Big Dance Pledge, created in partnership with Scottish Ballet and Get Scotland Dancing.

Some will be full performances, some will take place in school assemblies and during office lunch hours, some will be filmed and photographed, and all the events will be part of a blog updated throughout the day.

There are many ways to get involved. You can join one of the Dancefest classes who are working on a dance for the Pledge, you can get Dancefest to come into your school, community centre or work place to teach you some of the dance, or you can learn the moves online at bigdance.org and join in at home or at work, on your own, with friends or your dance group.

Dancefest is also working with colleagues from across the region to organise events for Big Dance Week, 5-13 July.

For more information, visit dancefest.co.uk or contact clare@dancefest.co.uk if you’d like to get involved.
