PARISH COUNCIL - At the October meeting Councillor P Jinman was in the in chair, elected in the absence of Coun J Webb.

Also present was the clerk, Coun G Powell and three members of the public. During the public forum Richard Stow asked for an update of the Neighbourhood Plan and if there was any information online. John Hook brought to the council’s notice the debris left after the recent hedge cutting in the recreation ground.

The recently installed dog notices were having little effect and also the cricket mats had not been removed. Concerns about drainage problems along the Dulas Road were also raised by Michael Gardiner.

An application to nominate the Catholic church as an asset of community value has been lodged with the owner who has two weeks to reply. If they object, the council’s interest has been formerly lodged. There have been various other expressions of interest including use as a cafe, art gallery and residential development.

No other action is required at the moment.

The interviewing panel’s preferred choice of clerk is Mrs C Bowles who has nine years’ experience as parish clerk at Madley.

Her appointment was carried unanimously.

The county councillor’s report included highway matters, contract points, reference reports, health funding, school transport and police matters.

A letter of resignation was received from Martin Roper to terminate his grass cutting contract with the council. He will be sent a letter of appreciation for all his work over the last 16 years along with an apology for any lack of respect and consideration shown to him by the council.

The next meeting of the parish council will be held on November 12 at a location to be confirmed.

AUTUMN FAIR - This will take place In St Michael’s hall on Saturday at 12noon with stalls including gifts, scarves, jewellery, tombola, cakes and preserves.
