FOOD FESTIVAL - Saturday noon-3pm in the church, free entry. There will be an exciting range of local produce – sausages, cheeses, wines and ciders, jams and chocolates to name a few.

Come to taste and buy. Also a selection of craft stalls with gift ideas. Refreshments and light lunches available.

PARISH COUNCIL - A welcome was given to Roger Beard, co-opted into a casual vacancy on September 3, and to the new parish path officer Joan Williamson. A new 21-year lease on the recreation field has now been agreed and is being finalised. Once this is done it means grants can be sought to improve the facilities and the parish council would like to hear from volunteers who would like to actively get involved. Anyone interested should contact the parish clerk. After further reports of vandalism, littering and drinking at the recreation field it was urged that any member of the public seeing any of these offences being committed report it by calling 101. If problems aren’t reported the local policing team will not be aware of them. It was reminded that the recreation field is a designated no-alcohol zone and a further sign will be put up to reinforce this.

The parish council is in the process of obtaining a cycle rack for the parish hall, with kind permission from the parish hall committee. It was agreed to request that Stoney Street is assessed for a reduction in speed limit to 40mph.

The next meeting will be held on October 1 in the parish hall. All are welcome. Details can be found at madley.org.uk.

COMMUNITY LED PLAN - This has now been completed and is currently at the printers. There will be a launch event at the parish hall on October 21, at 6.30pm. Come along, collect a free copy and enjoy a free buffet.
