WHILE the warm weather may have left many of us baring a bit more flesh, little has changed for these two groups.

A naked life is the norm for one society of naturists near Ross-on-Wye and a trim attire is the standard dress code for a set of butlers seeking colleagues in Hereford.

The nudist retreat based at Longhope, near Lea, is also on the look-out for new members, especially women.

They are needed for female-only days and to help even out the male to female ratio of the group that has been enjoying the remote surrounds of The Pines Outdoor Club for 40 years.

Club chairman Dave Hammond said: “We have found that as our members get older and the men pass away, their wives tend to stop coming. But if the wife passes away first, the husband is much more likely to maintain membership.

“Our membership is mainly comprised of couples, but we also have some singles, particularly males.

“This is why we are trying to encourage some more females to join us.”

Sandra Phillips, the naturist star of a BBC programme about female body image, will host a ladiesonly day on May 18, and is pleased to welcome any newcomers.

Guests can come along for a cuppa and chat to current members – with no obligation to strip off.

However if they do, Dave insists they will find it a liberating experience.

“Being clothes-free removes all rank and status,” he said.

“The ladies will welcome being able to lose their bras and relax with the sun and the breeze on their bodies, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature.”

The club believes that while lots of British women happily sunbathe nude abroad, they don’t join naturist clubs or swims because of body image, or the presence of men.

Members say the day is an opportunity for women to see the club’s woodland surroundings and, with males being strictly off site from 11am until 3pm, to do so without some of that pressure.

And for any ladies keen to get involved, The Pines offers plenty to see and do, with sunbathing lawns, woodland walks and views over Longhope.

“We have a volleyball court and a petanque piste for those that wish to do more than just relax soaking up the sun and the sounds of the birds,” said Dave.

  • Meanwhile, another group that feels comfortable within its own skin is looking for attractive men in Hereford to offer a racy service.

Butlers in the Buff will be holding an online recruitment day for suitable men on May 22.

The firm is looking for the most confident, good looking and charming males in the county, aged between 21 and 35, to sign up.

The company provides attractive men to serve drinks and host parties, wearing only cuff, collars and a revealing apron.
