TABLETOP SALE – This takes place at Knighton Community Centre on Saturday, from 10.30am till 2pm. Sale tables will be made up by local charities and private sellers. Refreshments will be available. Pre-booked tables cost £5 and are available from 01547 520871.

BINGO – There will be a bingo session at the church hall, Knighton, on Saturday, starting at 7pm.

HORTICULTURAL, FLORAL AND HANDICRAFT SHOW – Schedules are now in shops and the library in Knighton. The show is part of Knighton show and carnival taking place on Saturday, August 31.

FOOD AND CRAFT MARKET – The generosity of Knighton people at last Saturday’s market raised £117 for villagers of Burin in the West Bank, Palestine.

Several members of the Knighton Palestine Links Group have visited Burin. Bev Lloyd and Anne Mary Davies have helped with the olive harvest over the years and other members have received tremendous hospitality from the villagers. The Knighton Palestine Links Group networks with other Palestinian support groups and with villages and towns in the West Bank. Knighton is linked directly with Azzoun, a town that has had many problems with settlers and the Army. The town is in the Nablus regional area – as is Burin. CAR BOOT SALE – There will be a car boot sale at John Beddoes school on Sunday, from noon till 4pm. The event has been organised by the school’s PTA.

THE MAYOR’S CHARITY BALL – Mayor of Knighton Christine Branford held her charity ball at Knighton community centre recently.

The mayor’s guests enjoyed a meal before dancing to live band Hot Climate. All the proceeds from the event will go to the mayor’s charity, the Knighton first responders.

Chris thanked everyone who came to the event, everyone who donated raffle prizes and those who helped her both before and during the evening.

21ST BIRTHDAY PARTY RAISES MONEY FOR CHARITY – Jemma Tranter, who lives near Knighton, held her 21st birthday party at the Castle Inn, Knucklas. Instead of gifts Jemma asked for donations to Macmillan Cancer Support and received £450.

At the party Jemma was joined by her parents, other family members, friends and neighbours.

Jemma thanked her guests for their generosity, her parents and friends who provided the food, and everyone else who helped to ensure she had a party to remember.
