Hereford MP Paul Keetch has announced he is to step down at the next General Election.
"The best time to finish is when you are at the top and that it just what I am doing.
"It was very emotional to tell my party and the hundreds of volunteers that helped me to fulfil my boyhood ambition that I was not going to be a candidate at the next election," he said.
The MP said that he truly did not know what the future would hold.
He added that he regarded as the greatest achievements of his time as MP as relating to local education and health services.
