BUILDING on the success of last year's Meningitis Trust gig at Leominster's Lion Ballroom, organiser Emily Davies has put together a new line-up for a second fund-raiser to be held at the venue on Saturday, December 2.

Returning after a great reception last year is Ireland's Gary Dunne. Having toured with the likes of Damien Rice, The Avalanches and Nizlopi, Gary can only build on the impression he left in his wake.

Martin Harley is a singer/songwriter whose music draws on influences from old-time blues and folk to world music, to make a sound that feels so familiar, you think you've grown up with it.

Songs about living in cars, worn-out shoes, love lost and found and meandering around the world are constant themes in his music and his approach to playing slide guitar across his lap and his skilful finger style playing are the cornerstone of the music.

Laur Pitt and the Smiths are regulars at the Doodies open mic night, where they have won many fans with their attention-grabbing sets.

Fusing jazz, latin, blues and hip-hop influences, this guitar-playing, beat-boxing band are a talent to get excited about.

A singer-songwriter herself, Emily plays piano and guitar and sings a blend of self-penned material and her own interpretations of some of her favourite songs.

Last year's benefit gig raised £1,300 for the trust, which is especially close to Emily's heart since she suffered a near life-threatening episode of the disease at university.

The intimate venue and standard of music proved a sell-out last year, so book early.
