PRIVATE sector providers could run health and social care services in Herefordshire as Wye Valley Health Trust confirms new plans to cope with its spiralling deficit.
The confirmation comes after a series of stories by the Hereford Times over the past year outlining the Trust’s financial plight.
As reported, Trust cannot meet the requirements to achieve Foundation Trust status that government requires alone.
Three options have been outlined:
• The Trust becoming the junior partner of a Trust which has already attained Foundation Trust status. Wye Valley NHS Trust would maintain its local accountability.
• The Trust going into partnership with a private sector organisation and be run as a local franchise.
• Break up the Trust and disperse its services to be run by a range of private and public sector providers.
