THE much-loved Boyan Ensemble is enjoying its 15th consecutive British tour, which includes a performance at St Francis Xavier Church, Hereford, tonight (Thursday) at 7.30pm.
The group presents a mixed programme of sacred chants in the first half of the concert and Ukrainian folk songs in the second.
The addition of a single female voice gives the Ensemble a unique quality.
"Their performances are simply thrilling," said Barbara Young, a local supporter of the Hereford concert.
"People are often moved to tears by the sacred chants, but in the second half the singers let their hair down with songs of love, humour, bravado and nostalgia.
"There is some comedy as well as their joint conductors are identical twins who keep swapping places to test the audience.
"I cannot adequately describe the concert because you have to go and experience it for yourself. It is a wonderful and entertaining night out."
Tickets are available from Outback Records on 01432 275063.
