A 59-YEAR-old man says he was forced to flee a pack of 12 dogs after they turned on his terrier while out walking near Titley Pools nature reserve on Saturday.
Michael Barratt says he “feared for his life” as he ran more than 200 yards home, with his dog in his arms.
“The dogs were out of control,” said Mr Barratt.
“I felt I was running for my life, and my dog was terrified.”
While both dog and owner escaped without being bitten, Mr Barratt – who suffered a heart attack last year – was taken in an ambulance to the Hereford County Hospital after the incident left him shaken up.
Mr Barratt, of Eywood Lane, Titley, added that his neighbours were terrified by all the barking and thought there was a “big dog fight” going on outside their homes.
