THE world’s ‘number one tribute to Jimi Hendrix’, Are You Experienced? take to the stage at Malvern Theatres next week.
The voice is Hendrix, and the persona of the man himself is on the stage, brought to life by John Campbell, who bears a striking physical resemblance to Jimi, and who replicates all the famous stage antics, including playing the guitar with his teeth and behind his head.
“My musical influences include James Brown and Thin Lizzy, but it was Jimi Hendrix who really captured my imagination,”, says John, who founded Are You Experienced? ten years ago and together with bass guitarist, Mark Arnold, and drummer, Kevin O’Grady, they have played throughout Europe and Dubai, as well as constantly touring in the UK.
“Unnerving accuracy – uncannily like the real thing,” said Guitarist Magazine.
