A HOT-shot team of soapbox kart enthusiasts soared away to help one of Herefordshire's favourite charities.
Teams from all over the country took part in a soapbox derby at the Foxley estate, Mansel Lacy, and raised more than £3,000. Half of the proceeds will go to Acorns Children's Hospice, with the remainder shared between Mansel Lacy Church and the community association.
Cal Edwards, who helped organise the event, said: "The trophy winner was Gwynfor Benjamin, from Ludlow. His kart didn't go fastest, but he raised the most sponsor money."
The soapbox derby is among the country's top events of its type and teams competed from Bristol and Wigan. Next year's race will benefit the Charles Renton Appeal.
